2019 Mazda2 - great technology in stylish small package
The Mazda2 has built a reputation for its stylish design, driving dynamics and safety technologies and this will be further enhanced with the latest upgrades to the 2019 Mazda2.
Mazda New Zealand Managing Director David Hodge believes the enhancements to the Mazda2 will ensure it remains a popular choice in the light segment market.
The increased demand for SUVs has resulted in a decline in this segment but to ensure the Mazda2 remains relevant to buyers the Mazda designers and engineers have delivered on the company’s “driver-first” ethos with upgraded features and the companies latest - generation technologies,” he says.
A strong seller in its segment, the 2019 Mazda2 boasts a freshened exterior design incorporating design cues from Mazda’s latest seventh-generation design language, including a honeycomb mesh grille similar to that of the larger Mazda3, updated headlights, new bumpers and new exterior colours.
Under the bonnet the 2019 Mazda2 showcases Mazda’s latest engine enhancements which offer improved real-world fuel economy and better torque characteristics through the engine speed range.
The Mazda2 has a reputation for delivering an outstanding driving experience and comfort, and the 2019 model is no exception. Improvements to the suspension system enhance ride feel and realise smoother handling characteristics. Better sound insulation and absorption has resulted in improved noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) delivering a quieter more refined ride for the driver and passengers, while newly designed front seats make driving easier, enhancing the feeling of connection with the car.
G-Vectoring Control Plus (GVC Plus) first introduced in the all-new Mazda3 this year further enhances handling stability and achieves a unified feel of dynamic performance by using the brakes to add direct yaw moment control and improves the vehicle’s ability to accurately track steering inputs and crisply exit corners. GVC Plus also increases comfort as smoother G-force transitions reduce the amount of body sway experienced by the driver and passengers.
Safety is at the centre of all Mazda vehicles and the 2019 Mazda2 incorporates an extensive list of safety features across all models. This includes Advanced Smart City Brake Support – Forward (Advanced SCBS-F) – Mazda’s Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane-Keep Assist System (LAS), Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), LED Daytime Running Lights, Auto Headlamps with High Beam Control (HBC), Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), Rear Parking Sensors and Reversing Camera.
